The Milbank Middle School sent hurricane relief to a Houston class from Maryland Middle School. Each week for the past four weeks, the students sent boxes filled with notebooks, binders, folders, pens, markers, clothing, and backpacks. Thus far, 15 boxes of supplies have been sent. The student council collected money at a home volleyball game to help cover the shipping costs, as that was a larger expense than students had expected.

“It was fun to have a direct person to send them to and be able to correspond with about their needs and their excitement from receiving the boxes,” stated MMS Student Council Advisor Heidi Wellnitz. “Many of the students from the school are from poverty stricken homes and most are still living in shelters.”
