Donald Pratt

Donald Pratt, age 93, formerly of Milbank died October 20, 2017, at the St. Cloud Hospital.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 25, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. at American Lutheran Church in Milbank. Visitation will be held at the church on Wednesday, beginning at 9 a.m. Burial will be in the Milbank City Cemetery.

The organist will be Mary Bjordahl. Casket bearers will be: Todd Larson, Curt Longhenry, John Enneking, Lance Enneking, Allan Longhenry, and Daryl Tobias. Honorary bearers will be Don’s grandchildren, all his many friends, and relatives.

Donald LeRoy Pratt was born March 26, 1924, on the family farm in Vernon Township, Grant County, SD. He was the son of Ira and Lottie (Whiting) Pratt. He was baptized on the 17th day of April 1946.

Don was united in marriage with Eleanor H. Longhenry on July 24, 1944, in Odessa, MN. To this union two children were born, Patricia and Diana.
Don was a truck driver most of his life, driving for his brother, Ivan Pratt. He later drove for Fingerhunt in St. Cloud, MN. Upon retirement Don and Eleanor spent their winters in Tucson, AZ. During the summer months Don would help his son-in-law, Dennis Larson on his farm in Clinton, MN. Don would dig the fields for hours with “Lucky”, Pat and Denny’s border collie, riding in the back window of the tractor. They were great buddies!

Sadly, Eleanor passed away on November 7, 2003, from a car-pedestrian accident. They were on their way to Arizona for the winter. Following Eleanor’s death, Don continued to spend his winters in Arizona for several more years.

Don loved to go for long rides daily in his Jeep. He would stop at several places for coffee and visit with the town’s people. His last years were spent in the Heritage of Foley Nursing Home in Foley, MN.

Don died at the St. Cloud Hospital on October 20, 2017, after a pneumonia illness. He had reached the age of 93.

Don is survived by his two daughters: Patricia (Dennis) Larson of Wheaton, MN; Diana Samuelson (Lotus Schwartz) of Sauk Rapids, MN; one sister, Lillian (Clifford) Dexter of Milbank; grandchildren: Lance, John, Jamie, Tara, and Todd; and many great-grandchildren.

Don was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; one brother; and three sisters.

Don’s family and friends are grateful to God for the many years they had with Don. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
