Lady Bulldogs Score High at Gymnastics Invite

The Lady Bulldogs gymnastics team earned its season-high team score of 128.15 at the Lewis Family Drug Invitational on December 16, at the Milbank Armory. Milbank placed third in the team totals.

“We had our best meet of the season so far,” stated head coach Amber Fraasch. “Strong scores on vault and floor and four no-fall beam routines led to our season high score.

Mackenzie Weinkauf punched her ticket to the State Class A meet on the vault. She earned her third qualifying score with an 8.7. She also hit her second state-qualifying score in the all-around competition with a 32.70, and her first state-qualifying score on the balance beam with a 8.350. Three other Lady Bulldogs scored their second state-qualifying scores of the season. Jodi DeVaal earned an 8.7 on vault. Maddie Gustafson scored an 8.60 on vault while Dani Yamaura scored a 8.6 on the floor exercise.

Joci McFarland and Dani Yamaura also scored personal best scores during the meet. McFarland scored a 8.35 on the balance beam while Yamaura tallied a 31.20 in the all-around competition.

Deuel took first at the Invitational with a 142.55. Henricks/RTR landed in second with a 136.55. Rounding out the team totals were Wagner-Bon Homme, 120.30; Sisseton, 116.70; Morris Area, 113.35; Britton-Hecla, 113.30, and Warner, 30.70.
