The Milbank High School wrestling team wrapped up its season with an awards potluck March 12. Individual award winners were chosen by vote from their teammates.

Sophomore Eli Fischer was named the Most Valuable Wrestler this season. Eighth-grader Kaden Krause was selected as the Most Improved Wrestler and seventh-grader Barrett Schneck was chosen as Rookie of the Year. The Pinner Award went to junior Alec Bien for his 19 pins this season – one more than he won the award for last year. Krause and eighth-grader Nick Trevett were both commended for their record of perfect attendance during the season.

Senior Isaac Fischer won the Justin Maass Spirit Award for his dedication and enthusiasm. Sophomore Brady Femling was named Most Valuable Wrestler on the junior varsity squad.

Tanner Kettwig was named to the 2017- 2018 Academic All-State team. The award is sponsored by the South Dakota Wrestling Coaches Association and is presented to seniors who have participated in the sport for three years or longer and have maintained a grade point average of 3.5 or better.

The 20 Bulldogs who each earned a Major M in wrestling for the 2017-2018 included:  Kettwig, I. Fischer, Bien, Angel Chen, E. Fischer, Flemming, Elijah Fraasch, Brodie Holtquist, JD Lusk, Breyden Miller, Toby Schneck, Trystan Fischer, Logan Meyer, Krause, Michael Karges, Layton Raffety, Nick Trevett, Breydon Christenson, Noah Garcia and B. Schneck.
