The Lady Bulldogs Volleyball squad faced the Lady Trojans in Ortonville on Monday, September 24. Milbank won three of the four sets with scores of 25-18, 25-20, 17-25 and 25-15.
Coach Nancy Hoeke commented, “After a slow start and getting used to a slight line-up change, we got some offensive flow going and we seemed to be rolling along. Then in the third set, the light switch turned off and we were plagued with errors. Ortonville went on a run we couldn’t stop. Fortunately, in the fourth we were back on our game… We got the serve back at 17-15, and Jacey Engebretson kept it all the way to point 25!”
Makayla Johnson amassed three solo blocks, four kills, and an ace. Jacey Engebretson added 11 kills, three aces and 15 assists. Gabbi Cummins gathered up numbers in all areas with two aces, 16 assists, 15 kills and 11 digs. Jaden Hoeke rounded things out with two aces, seven kills, and seven digs.
Tracy Pillatzki and Tonya Meyer contributed two aces each, for a total of 13 for the Lady Bulldogs. Katie Wollschlager added 21 digs and Amy Nelson made four assists.
MHS hosts Lac qui Parle Valley on Saturday, September 29. The match starts at noon.
