Three Milbank runners finished in the top 20 at the Lennox Invitational cross country meet on Thursday, October 3. Nick Batchelor won his sixth race of the season. Brady Femling placed 19th in the boys’ race. Maurina Street took 15th place for the girls.
“This meet was a great opportunity for our varsity teams to compete against some of the top teams in Class A,” stated head coach Eric Townsend. “We don’t have any other chance to compete against any of these schools until the state meet. There were at least three of the top six teams in both races.”
The boys’ team placed fifth out of 13 teams. The girls took sixth place out of 12 teams. “Both teams got a taste of the level of racing they will need to do to be a top team in the state,” said Townsend. “The last two meets for both teams have been high-quality meets that have hopefully given us some experience that will be extremely beneficial the next two weeks at the NEC and region meets. Both teams will have a shot to win the team titles at the NEC meet.”
Milbank battles for the conference titles on Wednesday, October 9, in Webster. The meet starts at 1 p.m. This meet was originally scheduled for Thursday but was moved up a day due to the severe weather forecast.
