Jaecy Engebretson, an outside hitter on the MHS volleyball team, achieved a feat not many do in their high school volleyball careers when she reached 1000 kills during the opening round of the Region 1A volleyball tournament in Webster on November 5.

“This feels absolutely amazing, and it means a lot of all the hard work has been paying off.” Jaecy said. “It has been a dream of mine since I was a freshman. I always thought it was the coolest thing when someone reached that milestone, and I wanted to do the same.”

Jaecy needed 29 kills in the match to reach the 1,000-kill mark. At the end of the night, she had added 30. The final one came on the last point of the match to give the Lady Bulldogs the victory and two things to celebrate.

Jaecy said, “That win felt so good,” she added. “Everyone worked their tail off knowing we were going up against a good team. We stayed confident, stayed positive, and worked super hard to get the win! I want to thank my coaches, parents, and teammates for helping me achieve this goal!”
