Robert Schwandt, age 80 of Milbank died May 18, 2015, at St. William’s Care Center in Milbank.

Robert SchwandtServices will be held Thursday, May 21, at 2 p.m. at Mundwiler Funeral Home, with visitation beginning at noon. Rev. Craig Werling will officiate and Elaine Hallberg and Tim Mundwiler will provide music. Casket bearers will be Bob Paulson, Dave Torgerson, Terry Wittrock, Jim Johnson, Gordon Jarman, and Jim Gesswein. Burial will be in the Milbank City Cemetery.

Robert Franklin Schwandt was born on March 10, 1935, to Frank Emil and Martha Annette (Bohlen) Schwandt in Grant County, South Dakota. He attended school in Milbank, South Dakota through the 10th grade. On September 14, 1970, Robert was united in marriage with Wauneta Bunting Schaffer.

Robert was employed by State Auto in their maintenance department. He was also a bartender at the Municipal Liquor Store, hauled milk for Valley Queen Cheese, and worked at Dakota Granite in the quarry.

Robert was crazy about cars, restoring and rebuilding antique automobiles. He was a member of Lake Region Antique Auto Club.

Robert is survived by his wife, Wauneta, of Milbank, SD; and sisters: Mavis Bjella of Fargo, ND; and Vera Easterby of Milbank, SD.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents; brother William Schwandt; and sister Dorene Chan.
