MALST Swimmers Place at State A Swim Meet

Aubrey Fraasch and Maurina Street earned medals during the state A swim meet in Huron this past weekend to lead the way for the Milbank Area Lions Swim Team.
Fraasch finished in the top eight in five different events in her eight and under age group. To highlight the weekend, Fraasch was crowned champion in the 100 meter breaststroke. She finished second in the 50 meter breaststroke, fourth in the 200 meter IM (individual medley) and 50 meter butterfly and seventh in the 50 meter freestyle. Fraasch also received the sixth place high point trophy in her age group overall.
Street earned two sixth place medals in the girls 9-10 100 meter backstroke and 50 meter freestyle events.
Other Milbank swimmers competing in the state meet were Brooke and Elijah Fraasch, Amaya Street, Hallie Schulte and Mark Van Dover. All seven swimmers who competed were named the swimmers of the meet by coach Ben Forrette.
Milbank will conclude its season at the Seasonal Championships in Mitchell this coming weekend, July 31 through August 2. The seasonal championships pit all the summer teams against each other for the top awards of the summer.
