Milton Kaufman, age 82, of Wilmot, SD died on Saturday, July 25, 2015, in Watertown.

milton kaufmanFuneral services will be held on Friday, July 31, 2015, at 10:30 a.m. at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Wilmot with Rev. Caleb Schewe officiating. Burial will follow in the Wilmot City Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday, July 30 at the church with a prayer service at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue for one hour prior to the time of service at the church on Friday.

Milton Ernest Kaufman was born on June 11, 1933, in rural Roberts County, SD, to George and Viola (Archut) Kaufman. He graduated from Browns Valley High School in 1951. Milton served in the United States Army and was stationed in Fairbanks, Alaska. Upon discharge he returned home and worked at the Browns Valley Feed Mill.

On June 11, 1961, Milton was united in marriage with Donna Van Cleve. They lived near Browns Valley for one year and then moved to rural Wilmot in 1962, where he lived the remainder of his life. During his life, Milton farmed, sold Thrivent Insurance, and was a U.S. Rural Mail Carrier for 17 years. After he retired, he worked for Laborer’s For Christ, building churches and schools. Milton was a faithful member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church of Wilmot. Milton enjoyed playing cards, planting trees, camping, traveling, and spending time with his family.

Cherishing his memory is his wife, Donna, of Wilmot, SD; son, David (Melissa) Kaufman of Las Vegas, NV; daughters: Linda (Mark) Ramsey of Castlewood, SD; Paula (Dave) Hulscher of Florence, SD; Sarah (Nick) Geikas of Bay City, MI; and Becky Kaufman of Sioux Falls, SD; grandchildren: Andrew Kaufman, Alex Kaufman, Joshua (Amanda) Williams, Jacob Williams, Adam Williams, Rebekah Ortiz, Joe (Becca) Ramsey, Allison (Scott) Schmitz, Nathan Hulscher, Lukas Hulscher, Kate Hulscher, Jonah Geikas, Wesley Runge, and Danica Runge; great-grandchild, Savanna Schmitz; brothers: Virgil Kaufman of Milbank, SD; and Don (Jenny) Kaufman of Zimmerman, MN; and many nieces and nephews.

Milton was preceded in death by his parents, George and Viola Kaufman, and one brother, Armin Kaufman.
