Milbank Youth Baseball Program Wraps Up Season

The Milbank youth baseball and softball programs concluded its season recently which was highlighted with great success.
The Milbank Ball Diamond Association added Lyle Hoeke as the day program director for t-ball, baseball and softball this season. Hoeke had been involved with the organization nearly six years ago and enjoyed returning to the program. “It went good,” mentioned Hoeke. “We had a lot of kids. I enjoyed it.”
Hoeke noted that 215 kids ages three through 14 participated in the baseball and softball day program.
Many other volunteers within the community took part in teaching and coaching the kids involved. Scott Hoeke was the director of youth baseball while Darin Mertens directed the youth softball program.
Coaching the various baseball teams were Scott Hoeke and Adam Cummins, U12; Jay Mertens and Tim Lease, U10; Cummins, Mark Keeton and Keith Weber, U8, and Scott Wiese, Ryan Scoular, Lance Hammann and Lease, t-ball.
In the upper level teams in Milbank, Travis Lester and Scott Hoeke coached the VFW Junior Teeners, and Dustin Lester coaches the VFW Teener team. Ron Krause was the American Legion Post 9 coach while Jesse Krause coaches the Milbank Firechiefs amateur baseball team.
