Milbank Teeners Head to Region Championship Tilt

The Milbank VFW Teeners cruised to a 10-0 victory in five innings over Sisseton Thursday in semi-final action of the Region 1A baseball tournament at Legion Field.
Milbank will now face the winner of Sisseton/Groton for the championship Friday at 5 p.m. The winner will advance to the State A VFW tournament slated for August 7-9 in Humboldt.
The Teeners controlled the contest with a solid defensive stance. The offense took advantage of a weak Sisseton defense to close the game early in five innings. Milbank plated one run in the second inning, three in the third, two in the fourth and finished off the contest with four in the fifth.
Tanner Gauer led the locals with two hits, including a double, and one run. Dylan Johnson followed with one hit and one run. Jake Karges belted out a double and plated a run for Milbank.
Sisseton gave up seven walks to the Teeners. Finding first base on a walk for Milbank were Johnson, Mitch Quade (2), Jake Anderson, Taran Mogard, Matt Lenards and Cole Dockter. Credited with a stolen base on the night were Johnson, Lenards and Dockter (2).
