Sharon (Mrs. Dorwin) Swenson, age 73 of Ortonville died August 21, 2015, at the Ortonville Area Hospital.

sharonswensonFuneral services will be held on Wednesday, August 26, 2015, at 2:00 p.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Ortonville. Rev. John Ragan will officiate and burial will be in the Mound Cemetery.

Visitation will Tuesday from 5 – 7 p.m. at Mundwiler and Larson Funeral Home in Ortonville. A prayer service will be held at 7 p.m.

The urn bearer will be her grandson, Curt Swenson. Honorary bearers will be the Dr. Ronald Beyer; the staff (past and present) of Ortonville Area Health Services and her grandchildren: Lindsey Lee, Chelsey Swenson, Sarah Petersen, Ashley Shelstad, Curt Swenson, Quincy Swenson, Connor Swenson, and Leo Swenson; and great-grandchildren: Carter, Bentley, Madisen, Owen, Braxten, Carsen, Jax, and Tate.

Music will be provided by Tammy Ragan, organist and Rev. John and Tammy Ragan, vocalists.

Sharon Marie (Goldsmith) Swenson was born November 17, 1941, in Ortonville, MN. She was the daughter of Harold and Pearl (Feigum) Goldsmith. Sharon grew up in the Ortonville area and graduated from Ortonville High School. She earned her Licensed Practical Nurse degree from North Dakota State College of Science in Wahpeton, ND.

Sharon was united in marriage with Dorwin Swenson on July 8, 1962, at First English Church in Ortonville. Sharon began her nursing career in Morris, MN before returning to Ortonville, where she worked as a nurse for over 50 years. Sharon loved her nursing career and gave loving care (and wonderful back rubs) to many, many people.

Sharon and Dorwin were blessed with four sons: Mike, Tim, Craig, and Jason. Sharon was a proud mother who loved to cook and bake for her family. She and Dorwin enjoyed watching all the school and sport activities their children and grandchildren participated in. She was a faithful member of Zion Lutheran Church, having served on the Church Council and participated with WELCA. She enjoyed solving crossword puzzles. Sharon’s family will remember how she loved to dance polkas and waltzes. She was a fan of Minnesota sports – enjoying the Vikings, the Twins, the Gophers, and the Lynx. While watching baseball, she was a huge fan of Kirby Puckett and Rod Carew. Sharon’s husband, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were truly treasured by Sharon.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Dorwin of Ortonville, MN; four sons and daughters-in-law: Mike (Terri) Swenson of Big Stone City, SD; Tim (Dottie) Swenson of Ortonville, MN; Craig (Crystal) Swenson of Watertown, SD; Jason (Amber) Swenson of Marshall, MN; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren;one brother, James Goldsmith of Cannon Falls, MN; uncle, Vernon (Gertie) Goldsmith of Big Stone City, SD; two brothers-in-law: Marlin (Fran) Swenson of Las Vegas, NV and Merald Swenson of Graceville, MN; three nephews; one niece; and many cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one niece.
