The Milbank Area Bulldogs battled tough competition at the Dell Rapids Invitational boys golf meet Monday at Rocky Run Golf Course with a field of 89 players.
Adam Thomas shot his lowest round of the season thus far with a final score of 87. He was just two strokes away from placing in the top 20 for the tournament. Isaac Nolz shaved a few strokes off his score with a 104. Noah Pillatzki dropped eight strokes for a 109 while Chase Pinkert fired in a 118, which was 25 strokes better than his last round. Will Michel and Chase Buttke struggled a bit and finished with a 119 and 127, respectively.
Ty Hoglund of Dell Rapids Public was the medalist with a round of 73. Jacob Lee from Parkston was second with a 74, and Gabe Heller of Aberdeen Roncalli was third with a 77.
Milbank Area totaled a score of 418 as a team for the tournament. Dell Rapids Public won the event with a 327. Madison was second at 332 while Parkston took third at 333. Rounding out the team scores were Dakota Valley, 337; Aberdeen Roncalli, 340; Vermillion, 340; Tea Area, 348; West Central, 358; Canton, 360; Sioux Falls Christian, 366; Sioux Valley, 373; Elk Point-Jefferson, 379; Beresford, 385, and McCook Central-Montrose, 474.
Milbank Area will host the Northeast Conference meet Thursday at Pine Hills Golf Course. Golfers will tee off at 10 a.m.
