Girl Scout Troop 43415 of Milbank will accept donations for its Caring Kits for Kids project until Monday, September 7, according to troop leader Abby Tschakert.

This is a Silver Award project taken on solely by troop member Christena Whitman.  The intent is to help others by creating mood-lifting kits for hospitalized children.  The kits consist of a new stuffed animal, a coloring book, and crayons for patients and their siblings at Sanford Children’s Hospital in Sioux Falls.

“We will be delivering the kits to the kids castle st the hospital on Sunday, September 13,” noted Abby and Christena. “Any donations would be greatly appreciated.”

The Silver Award is the highest award a Girl Scout Cadette can earn. Its purpose is to give the Girl Scout the chance to show they are an organized leader dedicated to improving the community. To qualify for the award, the Girl Scout must be in sixth, seventh or eighth grade, be registered as a Cadette and have completed a Cadette Journey.

Donations for Whitman’s project can be placed in drop boxes located at Beren’s Warehouse Grocery, Paulina’s Total Image Salon and Seehafer Hardware in Milbank until September 7. Monetary donations can also be mailed to Girl Scout Troop 43415 at 47896 144th St, Milbank, SD, 57252.

For questions, please contact troop leader Abby at 701-527-3291.
