Runners Battle To Place at Britton-Hecla Cross Country Meet

The Milbank Area runners battled to earn a place in the top standings at the Britton-Hecla Invitational cross country meet Tuesday, September 8.

Senior Dylan Johnson led the team with a ninth place finish in the boys varsity race. Sophomore Elias Magilke followed with a 12th place finish in the field of 31 runners. Junior Kody Johnson took 18th place while senior Josh Pillatzki was 23rd and freshman Ben Harstad, 24th. Rounding out the varsity runners was Caleb Seehafer at 28th place.

Leading the way for Milbank Area in the girls varsity race was freshman Taylor Thue who finished 10th in the field of 28 runners. Eighth grader Jatana Grajczyk was close behind at 12th place, and Danica Schulte, also an eighth grader, finished in 15th. Rounding out the pack of Bulldog runners were sophomores Christina Lusk, 19th, and Shea Hooth, 20th; senior Shauna Pauli, 21st, and sophomore Sophia Seffrood, 22nd.

In the boys junior varsity race, Caden Bjordahl, Zippy Bock and Alex Farrell finished in the top eight places in the event. Amaya Street, Maddie Thue, Allison Leddy, Alexis Oliver and Camryn Phinney placed in the top eight of the girls junior varsity race.
