Darin Mertens and Kendall Van Peursem, representatives from Milbank Ford and Mercury, presented a check in the amount of $6,000 to Milbank High School Friday night for its efforts from the Drive 4 Ur School event.

The annual event was staged during school registration where area residents were given the opportunity to test drive a Ford vehicle. With every test drive, Milbank Ford donated $20 to MHS with the funds this year going to the fine arts department.

Milbank Ford is pleased to announce that the community registered 397 test drives. “With our test drives this year we are now #2 in the country for most test drives since the program began in 2007,” stated Paul Sayler, Milbank Ford salesman.

Since the programs inception, Ford Motor Company has generated more than $25 million in donations to high schools nationwide. The money has helped ensure that extracurricular activities can continue. Locally, Milbank Ford has donated $34,000 to Milbank High School. It is safe to say that this program has reached nearly every child in the school district in some way.

“Milbank Ford is thrilled that so many people from the community turned out to support MHS once again,” said owner Darin Mertens. “Programs like this show how strong our community is.”
