Christena Whitman of Girl Scout Troop 43415 completed her Girl Scout Silver Award project recently by delivering Caring Kits for Kids to Sanford Children’s Hospital in Sioux Falls. With generous donations from the Milbank community, Whitman was able to put together 114 kits for the children at Sanford. The kits included mood lifting items for the children such as stuffed animals, crayons and coloring books. She was accompanied to the castle by her mom and troop leader, Abby Tschakert, and Allison Grear, an Ambassador Girl Scout from Troop 43414.

The Silver Award project is the highest award a Girl Scout Cadette can earn. The purpose is to give the Girl Scout the chance to show that they are a leader who is organized, determined and dedicated to improving the community and make a change for the better. To qualify for the award, the Girl Scout must be in sixth, seventh or eighth grade, be registered as a Cadette and have completed a Cadette Journey.
