Carol Brandt, age 79, died Wednesday, October 28, 2015, at St. William’s Care Center in Milbank.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 2, at 11:00 a.m. at Tabor United Methodist Church in Big Stone City with Rev. Melanie Reiners officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-4 p.m. Sunday, November 1, at Mundwiler Funeral Home in Milbank with a prayer service at 4:00 p.m. Visitation will continue on Monday for one hour prior to the time of service at the church.
The urn bearer will be Carol’s grandson, Joey Kaiser. Honorary bearers include all of Carol’s grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Carol Lee Brandt was born on October 25, 1936, in Cooperstown, ND, to Melvin and Doris (Fink) Winning. She graduated from Cooperstown High School and then furthered her education in Jamestown, attending and graduating from nursing school. In May 1956, Carol was united in marriage with Beryl “Bud” Brandt at the Methodist Church in Big Stone City. To this union, four children were born.

Following their marriage, the Brandt family moved to South St. Paul, where Carol was employed by the U.S. Post Office. In 1970, they moved to Big Stone City and Carol spent the majority of her time caring for her children. She also worked as a cook at the Big Stone school, was a secretary at Northstar Dairy, was employed at the Big Stone Cheese Factory,, and most recently worked as a dispatch secretary at Hedge & Herberg.

Carol was a member of Tabor United Methodist Church in Big Stone City. She enjoyed bowling, playing cards and games with her grandchildren, shopping, especially on QVC, reading romance novels, listening to old country music, and taking frequent trips to the casino. Most important to Carol was her family and she especially adored spending time with all of her grandchildren.

Left to cherish Carol’s memory are her children: Dale (Lorelei) Brandt of Milbank; Cheryl Kaiser of Big Stone City; Linda (David) Taylor of Peck, KS; and Sandy (Lyle) Moser of Milbank; 13 grandchildren: Kaylee (Lee), Joe, Jamie (Emily), William (Deidra), Joey, Ashley, Nathan (Teri) , Shane (Nicole), Randy, Misty (Bryan), Kent (Chantal), Mitch, Christina (Michael); 17 great-grandchildren; and sister, Jean (Pius) Ries of Aberdeen.

Carol was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Beryl “Bud” Brandt; 1 brother; 2 grandchildren; and 1 great-grandchild.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Milbank Area Hospice.
