Donald Frerichs, age 89 of Wilmot died November 5, 2015, at his residence.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, November 10, 2015, at 10:30 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Corona. Rev. Caleb Schewe will officiate and burial will be in the Garfield Cemetery.

Visitation will be at Mundwiler Funeral Home on Monday from 5 – 7 p.m. and continue at the church on Tuesday, one hour prior to the service.

Casket bearers will be: Todd Frerichs, Nick Frerichs, Cory Nissley, Doug Nissley, Duane Peters, Larry Underwood, Mike Frerichs. Honorary bearers will be: Orville Vriem, Pete Reil, Leonard Buttke, Delton Buttke, Rodney Reil, and Brian Frerichs.

Donald Frerichs was born May 15, 1926, in Ortonville, MN. He was the son of Ernest and Andrea (Larsen) Frerichs. He grew up on the family farm in rural Wilmot and attended Garfield #1 country school. He was united in marriage with Lucille (Pietz) Buck on March 5, 1976, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Corona, SD.

Donald worked for a short time for Douglas Aircraft in California and in the mines in Idaho before returning to South Dakota. He began farming on the family homestead, and farmed most of his life. He was a faithful member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Corona. Donald enjoyed fishing. He was a kind hearted, honest man. He always enjoyed conversations with friends over a cup of coffee. He kept a beautiful yard, and adored his grandchildren. Above all, he was a devoted and passionate farmer.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Lucille of Wilmot, SD; step-children: Brenda (Doug) Nissley of Glendive, MT; Al Buck of Buckley, WA; Sherry Welch of Gillette, WY; grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brother, Gene (Judy) Frerichs of Milbank, SD; special nephew, Eugene (Joan) Frerichs of Milbank, SD; brother-in-law, Arlin Underwood of Milbank, SD; as well as many other nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, George Frerichs; sisters, Marla Underwood and Mavis Moser; step-daughter, Rita Stortz; and step-son-in-law, Charlie Welch.
