Mary Rae Beling

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 10, 2015, at St. John’s Catholic Church in Ortonville with Father Brian Oestreich officiating. Burial will follow in Graceville Consolidated Cemetery. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the time of service at the church on Tuesday.

Mary was born in Graceville, MN to Raymond and Margaret (Fermoyle) Michalscheck on February 27, 1947. Mary attended North Hennepin Community College and earned her Associate of Arts degree in Accounting. She served as the Executive Director of the Big Stone County Housing and Redevelopment Authority for 30 years. As an adept grant writer and administrator, Mary brought millions of dollars to Big Stone County for economic development, disaster relief, equitable housing, and home rehabilitation.

Mary enjoyed reading and crocheting, but especially loved visiting with friends and family. Her granddaughter was the light of her life. She was a devoted grandmother, mother, and wife.

She is survived by her husband, Ronald Beling of Ortonville, MN; daughter, Allison (Patrick Mallory) Friedly and granddaughter Cora of Auburn, Washington; two brothers, Patrick (Ruth) Michalscheck of Chandler, Arizona, and Jon (Mary) Michalscheck of New Brighton, MN. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Mary is preceded in death by her parents, Margaret and Raymond Michalscheck; brother, Robert “Mic” Michalscheck; and many beloved aunts, uncles, and cousins.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials are provided in her memory to the Big Stone County Healthcare Foundation or the Big Stone County Cancer Support Group.
