Grace Buttke, age 87 of Corona, SD died December 4, 2015, at St. Williams Care Center in Milbank.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 9, at 10:30 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Corona. Rev. Caleb Schewe will officiate and burial will be in the Kilborn Lutheran Cemetery.
Visitation will be on Tuesday at Mundwiler Funeral Home from 5 – 7 p.m. and continue at the church on Wednesday, one hour prior to the service.
Casket bearers will be: Roger Buttke, Christopher Janssen, Brian Hooth, Patrick Buttke, Lee Schwagel, and Darin Thiele. The organist will be Marlene Dockter.
Grace Ella May Bohlen was born June 13, 1928, on the family farm in rural Corona, SD. She was the daughter of Ben and Grace (Poel) Bohlen. She attended rural school through the eighth grade. Grace was united in marriage with Norbert Janssen on November 5, 1948.
The couple farmed together and also worked for the Corona School District as custodians. Grace later married Gilbert Buttke on October 27, 1979.
Grace was a faithful member of Trinity Lutheran Church. She enjoyed gardening, both vegetables and flowers. She was a fierce dart player. She enjoyed walking and looked forward to sharing a cup of coffee with friends and neighbors.
Grace is survived by two sons: Rick Janssen of Madison, SD; Randall Janssen of Sioux Falls, SD; three step-sons: Tom Buttke of Wheaton, MN; William Buttke of Milbank, SD and Roger Buttke of Corona, SD; 10 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Leonard Buttke of Corona, SD.
Grace was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters: Martha and Bernice; one brother Ado; and great-great-grandson, Riley.
