Fern Doschadis, 104, of Wilmot, SD, died on December 19, 2015.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 6, at 2:00 p.m. at Wilmot Lutheran Church with Rev. Sheila Pohl officiating. Visitation will be held on Tuesday evening, January 5, from 5 – 7 p.m. at the church and continue one hour prior to the service. Casket bearers will be Mike Doschadis, Pat Doschadis, Denny Riel, Bill Thomas, B.J. Erickson, Kevin Jurgens, and Nathan Jurgens. Burial will be in the Wilmot City Cemetery.
Fern Alvina Doschadis was born on August 17, 1911, in Browns Valley, Minnesota, the daughter of William and Christine (Quale) Schrader. She attended country school through the eighth grade. On January 22, 1932, Fern was united in marriage with Leonard W. Doschadis. They were blessed with four sons.
Fern lived in the Browns Valley area until 1940, at which time she and her family moved to Wilmot, South Dakota. Fern worked as a sales clerk for 30 years at various main street businesses. She was also the secretary for one year for Equity Co-op Association at the elevator. She was a member of the Wilmot Lutheran Church, where she was active in the Ladies Circle. Leonard died on June 2, 1996. In 1998 Fern moved and made her home at the Wilmot Care Center.
Fern is survived by her four sons: Bob (Mavis) of Wilmot; Bill of Kelsey, CA; Jerry (Dorothy) of Wilmot; and Jim of Beloit, WI; and 34 grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Evelyn Simon; brothers: Winfred, Willard, and Norman; one great-grandson, Dale Doschadis; and one great-great-grandchild, Travis Doschadis.
