Peter D. Mogard

Peter D. Mogard, age 71, of Milbank, died Wednesday, December 23, 2015, at the Milbank Area Hospital – Avera Health.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 28, 2015, at 2:00 p.m. at Mundwiler Funeral Home in Milbank with Rev. Carl Larson officiating. Burial will follow in the Milbank City Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 12-3 p.m. Sunday, December 27, at Mundwiler Funeral Home and will continue on Monday for one hour prior to the time of service.

Casket bearers will be Peter’s grandchildren: David Lee, Devin Hamson, Taran Mogard, Brianna Olson, Danielle Mielitz, Jessica Mogard, Leah Mogard, Myranda Mogard, Dezarae Carlin, Alex Mogard, and Austin Mogard.                                                                                                           Honorary bearers include all of Peter’s nieces and nephews.

Peter David Mogard was born on April 3, 1944, in Milbank, SD, to Edwin and Laura (Derr) Mogard. He attended country school in Alban Township through the eighth grade. On august 3, 1968, Peter was united in marriage with Bonnie Anderson in Deering, ND. To this union, 4 children were born.

Peter worked in Minneapolis at the Spring Factory. He also farmed in Grant County until 1989 and then began working at Sleepy Hollow Mill Works until 1998. Most recently, Peter worked for SMRR until his retirement.

Peter was a member of American Lutheran Church in Milbank. He greatly enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his children and grandchildren, and loved his dog, Max.

Left to cherish Peter’s memory is his wife, Bonnie Mogard of Milbank; children: Allen Mogard of Dawson, MN; Tammy (Mike) Hamson of Bellingham, MN; David (Maria) Mogard of Milbank; twelve grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and sister, Mardelle Lundborg of Seattle, WA.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Edwin and Laura Mogard; son, Robert Mogard; one sister, Harriet; one brother, Elton; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Arther and Minona Anderson; two sisters-in-law, Violet and Donna; and two brothers-in-law, Roger and Elroy.
