Donna Mae (Reynen) Thyne passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 30, 2015. Lying by her side and holding her hand was her sweetheart of almost 61 years, her husband Bob.
Donna was born November 22, 1936, in Milbank, SD. She was the daughter of Arthur “Bud” and Gladys (Darling) Reynen. She attended school in Milbank and graduated from Milbank High School with the class of 1954. She was united in marriage with Robert Thyne of January 8, 1955.
Donna was a faithful member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church and a member of the Catholic Daughter’s of America. She was a member of the Geneseo Gals Extension Club.
Donna was amazing at cooking and baking, and flourished in her kitchen. As the grandkids would say, “No one makes pot roast, mashed potatoes and gravy like Grandma”. In fact, her caramel rolls were like no other. Besides her love of baking and cooking, she also loved to read, enjoyed her flowers in the summer, and taking rides down to the lake and through the state park.
Donna is survived by her husband, Bob of rural Corona, SD; her children: Marilyn (Greg) Bohman of Brillion, WI; Diana Thyne of Milbank, SD; Peggy Murray of Modesto, CA; Patty (Todd) Cameron of Perham, MN; Linda (Calvin) Moser of Milbank, SD; Dan Thyne of Corona, SD; David (Lynelle) Thyne of Milbank, SD; Bobby Thyne of Greenleaf, WI; Joe (Mary) Thyne of Hillsboro, WI; 20 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; one brother, Rev. Donald (Evelyn) Reynen of Mitchell, SD; three sisters: Betty (Leo) Folk of Milbank, SD; Joyce Folk of Milbank, SD; and Barb (Larry) Bohn of Twin Brooks, SD; a dear friend, Lucille Folk; as well as many other relatives and friends.
Donna was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Marlin Reynen; one son-in-law, Daniel G. Wiese; and one brother-in-law, Charlie Folk.
“Mom, you showed us how to be strong. Your gentle heart taught us kindness and to never lose faith in God. You were a wonderful mother and we will miss you.”
“Donna, you were an angel the first day I saw you. Now you are one of God’s heavenly angels. Love, Bob”
