Minnesotans Win Wrestling Border Battle

The three Minnesota schools who fought in the Big Stone Therapies Wrestling Border Battle secured a 6-3 advantage over the three South Dakota schools Saturday, January 9, at the Milbank Armory.

Minnesota was represented by teams from Marshall, United and Border West. United is a collaboration between Montevideo, Lac Qui Parle and Dawson-Boyd, and Border West is made up of Herman-Norcross, Wheaton and Clinton-Graceville-Beardsley. Milbank, Sisseton and Sioux Falls Washington represented South Dakota.

The Bulldogs went 1-3 on the day with a 45-27 victory over Border West and 57-21, 59-9 and 57-24 losses to United, Marshall and SF Washington, respectively. Milbank evened its dual record to 5-5 on the season.

Jake Anderson was the standout wrestler of the day for Milbank with a 4-0 record and three pins. Alec Bien followed with a 3-1 record while Eli Fischer, Jordan Pollock, Isaac Fischer and Tanner Kettwig went 2-2. Earning one win on the day and ending with a 1-3 record were Cole Dockter, Koben Huber and Ben Nelson.
