_DSC0035 (1)The Milbank Area Bulldogs cruised to three dual wrestling victories during a quadrangular meet Tuesday, January 12, at the Milbank Armory to improve to 8-5 on the season.

The Dawgs started off the night by dominating Ortonville 64-0. Milbank Area battled Redfield-Doland in its second dual of the evening. The Bulldogs trailed 32-31 after the 220 pound match. Tanner Kettwig persevered and won by fall in the final match to give the Dawgs the 37-32 victory. “Beating Redfield-Doland was a big conference win for our team,” noted head coach Jeremy Tostenson.

Milbank Area then rolled to a 59-17 Northeast Conference win over Clark-Willow Lake. Jake Anderson highlighted the dual by earning a 5-2 victory over number-two rated Jess Karber, an opponent Anderson had not beaten since his early youth days.

“Jake goes about his business like a handmade precision clock,” mentioned Tostenson. “Our team wrestled all night with intensity and aggression that is expected. The guys did their job. It takes 14 guys to win a dual.”

In addition to Anderson, Jordan Pollock, Alec Bien, Taran Mogard, and Tanner Kettwig led the locals with a 3-0 record on the night. Eli Fischer, Tyler Krause, Toby Schneck, Isaac Fischer, Cole Dockter, Chris Loutsch, Koben Huber and Ben Nelson finished 2-1 while Jose Chen went 1-2.

In other matches, Redfield-Doland beat Clark-Willow Lake 52-26; Ortonville edged out Clark-Willow Lake 42-41 and Redfield-Doland won over Ortonville 53-21.
