Reuben Gilbertson

Reuben Gilbertson, age 87, of Wilmot, died Tuesday, February 2, 2016, at the Wilmot Care Center.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 8, 2016, at 2:00 p.m. at Wilmot Lutheran Church in Wilmot with Rev. Sheila Pohl officiating. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the time of service at the church. Burial will follow at a later date at Calvary Cemetery in Ulen, Minnesota.

Honorary bearers include the staff and residents of the Wilmot Care Center.

Reuben K. Gilbertson was born on January 11, 1929, in Thief River Falls, MN, to Carl and Selma (Islandsrud) Gilbertson. He attended school through the sixth grade and then began working on the family farm. In 1977, Reuben moved to Gary, SD, where he helped care for farm animals. Reuben moved to the Wilmot Care Center in 2000.

Reuben enjoyed fishing, listening to music, and he had a special love for all farm animals and dogs. He was a member of the Wilmot Lutheran Church.

Left to mourn Reuben’s passing is his family at the Wilmot Care Center, staff and residents. He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Clara, Bernice, and Alice; and brothers, Marvin and Art.
