Dennis Harder

Dennis Harder, age 66, of Milbank, SD, died on Tuesday, February 2, 2016, at his home.

No services will be held at this time.

Dennis Michael Harder was born on May 22, 1949, in Aberdeen, SD, to Gerald and Helen (Tomek) Harder. At a young age the Harder family moved to California. Dennis graduated from high school in California and then enlisted as a sniper in the United States Marine Corp on November 21, 1967. While in the service, Dennis was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, the Vietnam Campaign Medal, the Combat Action Ribbon, the Rifle Sharpshooter Badge, and a Purple Heart. He was honorably discharged on November 20, 1973 and returned to California.

In the 1990’s, Dennis moved to Milbank where he remained for the rest of his life. He worked various jobs in the community but was primarily employed for many years at Saputo until his retirement. Dennis had a deep love for his dogs. Dennis is survived by his mother, Helen Harder of Milbank, SD; brother, Kevin Harder of Milbank, SD; sister, Lisa (Ed) Ruble of Missouri; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father; wife, Lisa (Chance) Harder; and two brothers, Kerry and Craig.
