The Milbank Area Lady Bulldogs completed its regular season gymnastics schedule at the Deuel Invitational in Clear Lake Saturday, January 30.
Milbank Area landed in fourth place with a total team score of 126.25 points. Chamberlain won the event with 132.50 while Britton-Hecla took second with 129.20. Deuel edged out Milbank Area with 127.85 points.
Rounding out the team totals were Sisseton, 120.45; Big Stone Lake Area, 106.05, and Warner, 27.55.
Brooke Fraasch led the Lady Bulldogs with a sixth place finish in the all-around competition with 32.50 points. She also placed fifth on the uneven parallel bars (7.75) and the balance beam (8.05). Emma VanVooren took ninth place in all-around with 31.85 points, sixth on beam (7.95) and tied for 10th on the floor exercise (8.60). Mackenzie Weinkauf rounded out the place winners for Milbank Area with a 10th place finish in the all-around competition with 31.80 points. She also tied for 11th on beam (7.55) and tied for first on floor with a 9.10. Scores for the remaining gymnasts were not reported.
Milbank Area will travel to Britton-Hecla Thursday, February 4, to compete in the Region 1A/Northeast Conference combined meet in hopes of earning a berth to the State Class A meet. The top three teams from each region will advance to the state meet. The next three highest scores in Class A from the region meet will advance to the state meet as wildcards. Individually, the top 50 percent of place winners on each event from the region meet will advance to the state meet along with any in-season qualifiers.
