The Milbank Area Chamber of Commerce is shaking things up this summer and making changes to Farley Fest. “In previous years, we packed everything into one weekend,” stated Chamber Director Connie Larson. “This year, the chamber board decided to stretch the activities at Lake Farley out over the entire summer.”
Events will kick off with Q-Fest on Saturday, June 25. Barbecue cooks will battle for the title of best ribs, brisket, and chicken. Tickets will be sold for tastings. The FM All-Stars, featuring Milbank’s own Isaiah Folk, will provide free live music. Capping off the evening, the Aberdeen Aqua Addicts water ski team will perform a free water ski show.
For Independence Day, events will begin in the late afternoon and lead up to the fireworks show on Monday, July 4. “We had several younger firefighters step up and volunteer their time away from families to bring the fireworks show back to the Fourth of July,” explained Larson. “We thank them and appreciate their generosity.”
The country music concert is scheduled for Friday, July 15, in the park. The following day, July 16, the chamber is planning to gear up for the young adults. “We know that many groups plan class reunions during the time of the country concert, so we want to expand into other summer activities the same weekend,” said Larson.
The Lake Farley Summer Event Series will conclude Saturday, August 13, with the third annual rock concert. Leading up to the concert, will be the car show and traditional burnout event. “These activities seem to fit real good together,” Larson said.
