Milbank Grapplers Complete Regular Season At Huron Invitational

Five Milbank Area grapplers secured a top six finish at their final wrestling invitational meet of the regular season Saturday, February 13, in Huron.
Jake Anderson, Alec Bien, Tanner Kettwig, Jordan Pollock and Brodie Holtquist earned their way to the awards stand at the conclusion of the individual tournament. Anderson led the Dawgs with a third place finish at his 152 weight class. Bien and Kettwig secured a fifth place finish while Pollock and Holtquist earned sixth place in their respective weight classes.
Milbank placed 12th in the team standings with 74 points. Sturgis captured the top spot with 222 points. Aberdeen Central was second with 201 while Huron came in third with 149. Rounding out the team totals were Bon Homme-Scotland, 133.5; Watertown, 113; Vermillion, 106; Winner, 94; Clark-Willow Lake, 85.5; Wolsey-Wessington, 81; Brandon Valley, 77; Webster, 75.5; Mitchell, 51, and Yankton, 26.
The Bulldogs will battle at the Region III wrestling tournament Saturday, February 20, in Pierre in hopes of earning a spot in the State Class A tournament slated for Friday, February 26, and Saturday, February 27, in Rapid City. The top four place winners in each weight class at the region meet will advance to state.

106 – Eli Fischer won by fall over Taten Bahm, Yankton, 1:40; fell by 10-2 major decision to Jacob Wood, Sturgis; lost by fall to Daynon Huber, Huron, 5:50.
113 – Tyler Krause lost by fall to Atlas Willuweit, Winner, 1:12; lost by fall to Colton Borah, Wolsey-Wessington, 4:46.
120 – Toby Schneck fell 10-4 to Matt Katz, Huron; lost by fall to Logan Sparks, Mitchell, 1:59.
126 – Jordan Pollock won by fall over Bayley Anderson, Watertown, 5:28; lost by fall to Trey Hage, Vermillion, 1:27; won by injury default over Pywe Der, Huron; fell 5-2 to Dawson Kremlacek, Brandon Valley; lost by fall to Cully Olson, Sturgis, 1:47. Sixth place finish.
132 – Alec Bien lost by 10-2 major decision to Zach Sykora, Bon Homme-Scotland; won by fall over Josh Rowell, Yankton, 2:57; won by fall over Cade Shoemaker, Webster, 3:18; fell 7-1 to Brady Bollinger, Watertown; won 9-4 over Sutton Carpenter, Mitchell. Fifth place finish.
138 – Isaac Fischer fell 4-0 to Kyle Corbett, Huron; lost by fall to Tyler Small, Brandon Valley, 4:59.
145 – Brodie Holtquist lost by fall to Josh Crownover, Bon Homme-Scotland, 2:19; won by injury default over Dommonick Pechous, Watertown; won by fall over Avery Gilchrist, Winner, 1:26; lost by fall to Collin Haar, Aberdeen Central, 5:00; lost by fall to Josh Crownover, Bon Homme-Scotland, :52. Sixth place finish.
152 – Jake Anderson won by fall over Kobe Culver, Vermillion, 1:36; won 7-4 over Dillon Bollinger, Watertown; fell 7-0 to Winston Brown, Sturgis; won 6-3 over Sam Caba, Bon Homme-Scotland; won 7-1 over Dillon Bollinger, Watertown. Third place finish.

195 – Riley Folk won 4-2 in sudden victory over Alex Klingaman, Mitchell; lost by fall to Dexter Gaikowski, Watertown, 2:09; won by fall over Nathan Ihnen, Brandon Valley, :53; fell 2-1 to Alan Haataja, Bon Homme-Scotland.
