Dawgs Fall To Trojans In Hoops Rivalry

The Milbank Area Bulldogs battled hard but fell to its rival across the state line. On Tuesday, February 16, in a double header boys basketball game Milbank Area dropped 63-45 to the Ortonville Trojans. The Dawgs fell to 5-13 on the season.
In the Minnesota format, the Dawgs trailed 37-20 at the end of the first half. The teams played even throughout the second half, but Milbank Area was unable to overcome the early deficit.
Senior Nolan Foss set the pace for the Bulldogs with 11 points and six rebounds. Matt Lenards followed closely with nine points, four rebounds and one assist. Nate Bien tallied eight points and three rebounds while Jonny Ash added six points and one board on the night. Tanner Gauer chipped in with five points and four rebounds, and Jacob Jackson had three points and one rebound.
Also contributing for the locals were Cody Dockter, two points and one rebound; James Weber, one point; Isaac Snaza, three rebounds and one assist, and Derrick Aho and Mitch Quade, one rebound each.
Milbank Area made 41 percent of its shots from the field, hitting 17 of 42 attempts. The Bulldogs finished out the game with 29 rebounds, three steals, one assist and five turnovers.
Ortonville went 25 for 50 from the field for 50 percent shooting on the night. The Trojans collected the victory with 24 rebounds, five steals, one blocked shot and three turnovers.
Milbank Area has two games remaining in the regular season. The Dawgs will travel to Clear Lake Friday, February 19, to take on the Deuel Cardinals. They will finish out its schedule with the battle of the Bulldogs in Madison Monday, February 22.
