Rep. Kristi Noem today reinforced her commitment to ensuring dangerous terrorists remain outside U.S. borders and at the detention facility in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, after President Obama announced a plan this morning to try to close it before the end of his term.
“The President has no authority to close the detention facility at Guantanamo Bay,” said Noem. “The mastermind behind September 11 and the terrorists who have sought to destroy our nation, our people and our values deserve no presence on our soil. President Obama has put forward dangerous proposals like this in the past, and with bipartisan majorities, Congress has repeatedly stopped him. I am committed to ensuring his latest attempt will be unsuccessful as well.”
