_DSC0008 (5)The Milbank Bulldog grapplers are busy preparing for the state Class A wrestling tournament in Rapid City this weekend.

The tournament will begin at 10 a.m. MT Friday and Saturday at the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center and will feature both Class A and Class B in the same venue. This format is the first since 1990 and will be a sight to see with eight mats running throughout most of the event. “It will be exciting with the A’s and B’s in the same building,” said Bulldog head coach Jeremy Tostenson.

Milbank will be represented by seven athletes, which is the highest number of qualifiers for the locals since 2011. “I am excited for all of our guys and their opportunities,” noted Tostenson. “They need to stay focused on their wrestling and compete and battle aggressively.” The 2016 state tournament is the first for all seven Milbank wrestlers. The tournament is double elimination. Those wrestlers that survive until day two will place in the top eight of their respective weight classes

Junior Tyler Krause will take a 17-29 season record into the tourney at the 113 pound weight class. He will face sophomore Cody BeVier of Rapid City Stevens (31-10) in the opening round.
Senior Jordan Pollock will battle at the 126 pound weight class and holds a 23-22 record. He will take on freshman Tyson Stoebner of Lennox with a 42-13 record in the first round.
Freshman Alec Bien with battle sophomore Bailey Brengle of Sturgis in the first round of the 132 pound weight class. Bien has a 24-19 record while Brengle is 42-4.
Junior Jake Anderson takes a 38-12 season record into his first match of the tournament. He will face junior Dillon Bollinger of Watertown (24-23) in the opening round at the 152 weight class.
Sophomore Cole Dockter heads into the state tournament at 20-24 in the 160 pound weight class. He will battle sophomore Dante Colicheski of Rapid City Stevens who is 33-17.
Senior Chris Loutsch is currently 21-25 on the season and will face sophomore Logan Warzecha of Harrisburg in his first match of the 182 pound weight class. Warzecha has a 13-6 record.
Junior Riley Folk enters the state tournament at 11-9 on the season. He will take on junior Nate Guthmiller of Madison (33-3) in the opening round Friday at the 195 pound class.
