Jake Anderson Makes Record Book

Junior Jake Anderson joined an elite group of Milbank High School wrestlers when he marked his 100th career varsity victory Friday. He achieved the feat at the State Class A tournament in Rapid City. “It feels really good,” said Jake.

His 100th win also advanced him to the placing round in his first state tournament appearance. “Earning his 100th win and placing all within one match is a special thing,” stated Milbank head wrestling coach Jeremy Tostenson. “Jake earns everything he gets. He is now a member of an outstanding group of Milbank wrestlers.”

Anderson began wrestling in kindergarten and has been a member of the varsity team since seventh grade. Throughout that time, his parents, Brian and Brenda, have experienced the highs and lows of competition. This 100th win and a place on the state awards stand tops the list of accomplishments. “It feels pretty darn good,” Brenda smiled through tears. “We are so very very proud of him!”

Jake’s name is now added to a list of the top wrestlers in MHS history, which includes all four current Bulldog coaches: Jeremy Tostenson, Jesse Krause, Josh Schmeichel, and Ryan Conrad.
