Twenty-one seventh and eighth grade students from Milbank Middle School attended the 38th Annual Festival of Young Voices in Brookings Tuesday, March 8. Students auditioned and were selected in January. They spent nearly two months learning the music and preparing for the festival before joining students from across the state for a day of music.
Dr. David DeHoogh-Kliewer of the University of Sioux Falls rehearsed with more than 200 voices and the day culminated in a grand concert at 5:30 p.m. at the Performing Arts Center. Miriam Schwenn, Milbank choir director, served as accompanist for the concert.
Representing Milbank (as pictured from back to front, left to right) were: Drake Rogers, Elsie Rogers, Emma DeBoer, Rhianna Folk, Rhianna Welberg, Abbey Converse, Jenna Johnson, Jessica Van Peursem, Madi Thue, Casey Yamaura, Cassidy Christians, Hailey Underwood, Evan Erickson, Landon Brown, Danica Schulte, Lily Trapp, Eric Van Sambeek, Sawyer Seehafer, Aiden Boerger, Macie Priebe, and Alaina Rausch.
