Bruce SwezeyBruce Swezey, age 57, of Clinton, MN, died Tuesday, March 22, 2016, at the Ortonville Area Hospital.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, March 28, 2016, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Graceville with Father David Breu celebrating the Mass. Visitation will take place on Sunday, March 27, from 5-7 p.m. at Mundwiler and Larson Funeral Home – Moberg Chapel in Clinton and will continue on Monday for one hour prior to the time of Mass at the church. Burial will take place at a later date.

Honorary bearers will be Pat Maanum, Troy Cronen, Larry Fischer, Kim Stattelman, Randy Pullis, Mike Gorgenson, Dale Torgerson, and Bob Thordson.

Bruce Lawrence Swezey was born on August 24, 1958, in Graceville, MN, to Lawrence and Frances (Kipp) Swezey. He graduated from Clinton High School with the class of 1976 and then furthered his education at VoTech in Moorhead, where he studied as an electrician.

On July 23, 1984, Bruce was united in marriage with Debra Betow at St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Elrosa, MN. Bruce was a true outdoorsman and took great pleasure in farming the Swezey family farm. The family farm was established in 1876 and Bruce was especially proud to be the 4th generation to farm the land. He also enjoyed many outdoor activities including fishing, hunting, hiking, gardening and camping. He cared for his animals: dogs, cows, and cats, but particularly loved his dog, George. Bruce’s greatest joy came from spending time with his family and friends. Bruce was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 292 Electricians.

Left to cherish Bruce’s memory is his wife of 31 years, Deb Swezey; sister, Carla (Lyle) Giersdorf and their children, Matthew (Abby) Giersdorf and Greta (Chad) Dahlberg; brother, Daniel Swezey; mother-in-law, Rose Betow; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Karen (Thomas) Banal and their children, Matthew, Christopher, and Danielle; Marilyn (Alan) Latzka and their children, Leah, Emily, and Brandon Petermeier, Jake Latzka; Linda Merten and her sons, Paul and Jeff; Steve Betow and his daughter, Triniti; and Mark (Bonnie Petermeier) Betow.

Bruce was preceded in death by his parents; father-in-law, Martin Betow; nephew, Tommy Latzka; brother-in-law, Ron Betow; and faithful companions, Sam, Sport, and Missy.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to Bruce’s family are preferred.
