The Milbank Middle School sixth grade students completed their fourth quarter community service project by constructing wood duck houses. The houses were donated to the local Game, Fish and Parks Department (GFP).
The sixth grade homeroom classes, with instructors Brad Olson, Eric Townsend, and Jackson Graf, presented GFP Conservation Officer, Jamie Pekelder, with 12 duck houses. “These duck houses will be used throughout Grant County where there are ducks and a water source,” stated Pekelder.
The students in each classroom provided the supplies and materials for the project. The students then constructed the houses with limited help from the woodshop classes to cut the wood to size. “We are proud of the students teamwork to make these and are happy to be able to help out the county,” said Olson, Townsend, and Graf.
