Young Bulldog Netters Fill In Tennis Lineup
Milbank Area Tennis April 20, 2016 Staff Writer 0
The Milbank boys tennis team was short-handed April 19, but the underclassmen stepped up to the challenge when the Bulldogs met Lac Qui Parle Valley at Cantine Courts in Milbank. One junior, two sophomores, two freshmen, and an eighth grader filled out the varsity roster and did a great job despite the 6-3 loss.
“I was very pleased with our efforts against upperclassmen opponents,” stated Bulldog head coach Jim Dahl. “Three of the six losses were very close and could have gone either way.”
Eighth grader Max McCulloch was a double winner at the number five singles and number two doubles positions. “Max continues to show improvement,” noted Dahl. Mitch Quade secured a solid win at the number three singles spot. “Mitch did a nice job of being consistent and choosing opportunities to pick up the pace.” Connor VanVooren teamed up with McCulloch in the doubles victory for the Bulldogs.
