Mary Jane Johnson

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 30, 2016, at 2:00 p.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Ortonville. Burial will follow in Mound Cemetery. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the time of service at the church on Saturday.

Casket bearers will be Vernon Johnson, Todd Dybdahl, Jeff Stotesbery, Charles Betterman, Jon Pansch, and Craig Hoff. Honorary bearers include Tim Olson and the staff and residents of Northridge Residence and the Granitewood Home.

Mary Jane Johnson was born on November 4, 1937, in Ortonville, MN, to Theodore and Alice (Hanson) Johnson. She attended country school for six years and graduated from Clinton High School with the class of 1955.

Mary Jane held various jobs, working for a short time as a secretary and spending many years working as a housekeeper for several motels. She lived in Fargo, Minneapolis and Willmar before moving back to Ortonville, where she has resided for the past 28 years. Mary Jane lived in a group home in Ortonville for ten years before moving into Northridge Residence.

Mary Jane enjoyed participating in the activities at the senior center: listening to old time polka music, bowling, and playing bingo. Mary had a great sense of humor and was known for her terrific memory of birthdates. She also adored getting weekly letters from her cousins in Texas, Elsie and Rita, and receiving updates and photos of her great nieces and nephews.

Mary Jane is survived by her brothers, Dale (Betty) Johnson of Ortonville, MN, and Chuck (Nancy) Johnson of Brooklyn Park, MN; uncle, Lester Hanson of Graceville, MN; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Norma Hoff; and brother, Richard Johnson.
