Iowa Hawkeye legend Anthony (Tony) Ramos will be featured at the Milbank Bulldog wrestling camp this summer, July 11-12. Ramos is a three-time NCAA All-American for the University of Iowa. He captured an NCAA championship title and Big Ten champion title in 2013-2014. He was a World Team member in 2014 and 2015 and a United States National Team member in 2016. Ramos also was runner-up at the 2016 Olympic Team Trials.
“A huge thank you to Coach Krause for making this happen. To say it’s awesome to have Tony Ramos here for a camp is using the word “awesome” correctly,” stated Bulldog head wrestling coach Jeremy Tostenson. “Not only will our guys be learning technique from one of the nation’s best wrestlers, but they will have an opportunity to learn what it takes to be successful on and off the mat.”
Two sessions are scheduled for each day and will take place in the high school wrestling room. Grapplers in grades 7-12 will attend Monday, July 11, from 3 to 5 p.m. and Tuesday, July 12, from 8 to 10 a.m. Youth in grades kindergarten through sixth grade will attend July 11 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. and July 12 from 10:30 a.m. to 12 noon. Grade level is determined by grade entering in the fall of 2016-2017.
Registration deadline is June 15 and must be turned in to Coach Tostenson at the high school or at 705 S. 9th Street in Milbank. Walk-ins are welcome, but pre-registration is preferred.
The cost is $40 for grades 7-12 and $30 for K-6. Checks can be made payable to the Milbank Wrestling Booster Club.
