The Milbank boys basketball school concluded this past week with camps for fifth through eighth grade players. According to coordinator and Bulldog head coach Matt Bastian, the fifth and sixth grade players showed great improvement.

“We focused this camp towards improving the players individual skills and fundamentals,” he explained. “The kids showed great attention and significant progress throughout the camp.”

Champions on the 5-on-5 league were the Thunder with team members Aidan Foell, Owen Neeley, Jackson Bohlen, Carter Gloe and James Batchelor.

Earning the Mr. Hustle award was Aidan Foell, and Jackson Wohlleber was presented with the Coaches Award.

A camp for seventh and eighth grade athletes also took place where the focus was on improving the individual skills it takes to play the game at a high level. “This camp was organized to take the skills we worked on and put them into game play,” stated Bastian.

The camp included three breakdown leagues – fastbreak, defense and rebounding and motion league. It also included a live 5-on-5 tournament.

Members of the tournament champion team were Mason Riley, Nick Trevett, Braden Ebben, Nicholas Batchelor and Karson Weber. Winning the defense and rebounding league were Karson Weber, Will Cummins, Nick Trevett, Kellen Hoeke and Piercson Van Beek. Champions of both the fastbreak and motion leagues were Stevie Ash, Jake Trevett, Maddox Hanson, Mason Riley and Nicholas Batchelor.

Also receiving individual awards for their high level of play and hard work throughout the camp was Jake Trevett, Mr. Hustle, and Karson Weber, Coaches Award.
