Children and families are increasing attendance at Picnic In The Park, sponsored by the Grant County Christian Service Council. “The first week we had 15 children and their parents,” noted Heather Rise, Interlakes Community Action worker in Grant County. “This week the numbers grew, and we served 38 people. It’s fun and exciting to watch this grow and take off. We look forward to seeing how many come this week.”
Hot meals will be served throughout the summer with the last one on August 6. Picnics take place every Wednesday from 12 to 12:30 p.m. at the courthouse park, just south of the Grant County Courthouse. “Please note, if the weather is not ideal, we will still serve a meal but will move it to the community room in the basement of the courthouse,” explained Rise. “Also, some kids come right after baseball practice at 12:30 p.m. So, we plan to keep serving a little bit longer to accommodate them, too.”
Children and families in need of a hot nutritious meal are invited to attend at no cost. No reservations are required. For questions or more information, please contact Rise at 605-432-6571.
