Helen Harder

Helen Harder, age 86, of Milbank, died on Sunday, June 19, 2016, at her residence.

Funeral services are pending.

Helen LaVonne Harder was born on November 3, 1929, in Grant County, SD, to John and Helen (Froke) Tomek. She graduated from Milbank High School and then furthered her education in Fargo. On February 24, 1949, Helen was united in marriage with Gerald Harder. To this union, five children were born.

In 1963, Helen and the Harder family moved to California. While there, she worked at Sav-on. She was also an expert typist and worked for several years at Milbank Mutual. In 1993, Helen returned to Milbank where she remained until her death.

Helen is survived by her daughter, Lisa (Ed) Ruble of Missouri; son, Kevin Harder (Jeanette Bray) of Milbank, SD; grandchildren: Melissa Ruble, Kristina Strosnider, Jeff Ruble, Keresa Harder, Sara Ruble, Katelyn Harder, and Kassidy Harder; and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Gerald; three sons: Dennis, Craig, and Kerry; and one sister, Naida.
