Junior Teeners Win Watertown Coca-Cola Baseball Tourney

The Milbank junior teener baseball team captured the championship title in the B division of the Watertown Coca-Cola tournament Saturday and Sunday, June 11-12.
Milbank secured the title with a 13-11 victory over Groton in the championship tilt. The locals trailed early at 6-5 after the first two innings. Milbank used a big third inning and scored eight runs to secure the victory.
Keaten Benson belted out two hits and scored three runs to set the pace for Milbank. Brodie Holtquist, Noah Steinlicht, Micah Dietmeier and Mason Riley tallied two hits each while Breyden Miller and Sam Seffrood added one each. Milbank’s 13 runs came on 12 hits.
Eli Fischer secured the win on the mound for Milbank. He struck out six batters and gave up 11 runs in five innings.
The junior teeners secured a 16-1 win over Pierre in the semi-final game of the tournament. Milbank jumped out to an early 9-1 lead and pushed ahead to the win. Miller sparked the local’s offense with three hits and three runs. Eli Fischer belted out two hits and scored three runs while Benson added two hits and two runs. Also contributing for Milbank were Steinlicht, two hits and one run; Brady Femling, two hits; Holtquist, one hit and three runs; Riley, one hit and two runs, and Seffrood, one hit and one run.
Riley collected a pitching win for Milbank. He sat down four batters and gave up just one run in four innings.
Milbank rolled to a 10-0 victory over Pierre in pool play early in the tournament. Benson and Riley led the locals with one hit and two runs each. Holtquist and Femling added one hit and one run while Steinlicht and Parker Schell contributed one hit apiece.
In their second pool play game, Milbank edged out Montevideo, MN, 5-3. Milbank got on the scoreboard first with one run in the opening inning. The locals added two runs in the third and two in the fifth to secure the win.
Steinlicht set the pace for Milbank with two hits and one run. Dietmeier and Riley each added one hit and one run, and Schell belted out one hit in the contest.
