The Milbank American Legion Post 9 baseball team captured four wins during two double headers. They downed Aurora 6-5 and 11-0 and beat Sisseton 9-3 and 10-6.
The locals battled Aurora June 9, in double header action on the road. In the opening game, Post 9 plated four runs in the second inning and two in the seventh to secure the victory.
Milbank scored its six runs on 12 hits. Brady Krause and Riley Van Sambeek led the offensive attack with three hits each. Tanner Gauer belted out two hits and Tristan Hall, Brady Gomer, Jake Anderson, and Mitch Quade added one apiece.
Hall earned the win on the mound for Post 9. Dominic Boerger came in on relief and got the save for Milbank.
In the second game of the night, Milbank rolled over Aurora 11-0 and ended the game early in the fifth inning invoking the 10-run rule. Post 9’s 11 runs came on seven hits. Hall led the team with two hits and two runs. Jacob Jackson, Jonny Ash, Dalton Koch, Tyler Krause, and Nolan Foss secured one hit each. Dylan Johnson was the winning pitcher for Milbank.
Milbank faced Sisseton June 12, and took home two victories. In the opening game, Post 9 earned one run in the first inning and two in the second. They used a six-run third inning to put the game out of reach.
Milbank tallied six hits in the contest. Gomer led the team with two hits and Krause, Boerger, Jackson, and Johnson had one each. Krause was on the mound and credited with the win for Post 9.
In the final game of the day, Milbank defeated Sisseton 10-6. Koch had two of the team’s five hits. Jackson, Hall, and Anderson each contributed one hit. Johnson earned the win.
