“We were excited to see such a phenomenal turnout for our first event in the Lake Farley Summer Series,” said Laura Kelly, Milbank Area Chamber Interim Director. “About 500 people attended Q-Fest and the ski show. It was an amazing start and we look forward to our next event on the 4th of July!”
Brandon and Hilary Dexter was crowned the Grand Champion of Q-Fest. Ricky Bolin of Milbank took first place with his chicken, Marsha Wieting of Milbank took second, and Kevin DeBoer of Clear Lake was third.
The Dexters came in first in both the ribs and brisket divisions. Mark Veen of Milbank was second with his ribs, and Bolin took third. Bolin also placed second with his brisket and Veen finished third.
Throughout the public sampling, the FM All-Stars cover band played top musical hits. The band featured Milbank native Isaiah Folk, son of Tony and Kim Folk, and Daryl VanBeek of Wilmot. The evening was capped off with a performance by the Aberdeen Aqua Addicts Ski Team.
