Donald Fuhrman, age 91, of Graceville died Thursday, June 30, 2016, at Essentia Health Hospital in Graceville.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 9, at 11:00 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Johnson, MN with Rev. Eugene Andrus officiating. Burial will follow in the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Johnson. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the time of service at the church on Saturday.
Donald William Fuhrman was born on June 28, 1925, in Graceville, Minnesota to William and Hilda (Zimmerman) Fuhrman. He graduated from the Ag High School in Morris, Minnesota and attended one year of college at Concordia College – Moorhead before entering the United States Army. Don played with the Army Victory Band and toured Germany. On August 29, 1953, Donald was united in marriage with Marianne Hof. They were blessed with two children: Ernst and Franziska.
Donald was a lifelong farmer. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Johnson, where he enjoyed singing in the choir. He was also a member of the Tri-State Band and the Jimmy Douglas Band. He enjoyed traveling with Marianne, especially their trips to Mississippi and Germany.
Donald is survived by his children: son, Ernst (Pam) Fuhrman of Winnebago, MN; and daughter, Franziska (Ken) Harris of St. Paul, MN; five grandchildren: Angela Kleiman, Zachary Fuhrman, Olivia Harris, Isaac Harris, and Elizabeth Garcia; four great-grandchildren; brothers: Eugene Fuhrman of Johnson, MN; and Martin (Georgeanne) Fuhrman of Graceville, MN; sister-in-law Betty Lust of Graceville, MN; and nieces and nephews.
Donald was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Marianne, in 2014; and brother, Wilbur.
