
The Milbank Firechiefs continue to rack up W’s. They cruised to a 6-2 victory over Sisseton Friday, July 1. The Chiefs’ record improved to 12-4 with the win.
Milbank trailed 2-1 after one inning of play, but came back with two runs in the fifth to go ahead 3-2. A tough defensive stance held Sisseton scoreless. The locals added two more runs in the seventh and one run in the ninth.
Taylor Boerger and Brock Gomer had two hits each to lead Milbank’s offense. Tony Hofman and Lance Frogner scored two runs each and added one hit apiece. Jeff Fish completed the team’s seven-hit game with one hit, one run, and one RBI.
Dan Karges started on the mound for Milbank and earned the win. He struck out seven batters and allowed six hits, two runs, and two walks. Boerger came in on relief and earned the save.
